May 12, 2007 - SaturdayI went to Nanaimo - Vancouver island second big city for one day trip sightseeing.
In the early morning, I took the first bus at am6.05 from Richmond Centre to downtown Vancouver and transfer to another bus go to Horseshoe Bay (in North Vancouver) - Ferry terminal for am8.30 Ferry to Nanaimo departure Bay.
In the mean time, I met one nice lady in the bus stop, she was going to Nanaimo for celebrated Mother's Day with her daughter in Nanaimo. (May 13, 2007 Sunday is Mother's Day). I got so many information from her and had nice talking with her during the time in bus and ferry.I said good bye to her when ferry was arriving Nanaimo departure bay and started my exploration in my dreaming city - Nanaimo (second big city in Vancouver island).
First, I took the public bus No.2 went to downtown. It's really nice to met the bus driver came from Richmond and got some useful information for the first time in a new city you never been before. He drove me to bus terminal and told me from bus terminal down to the beach. Along the road, you can see the public area includes "Old City Quarter", " Art Gallery District", Waterfront sidewalk street and so on.
So, I started my exploration from bus terminal down to beach. The good thing was I found a good place for saving boarder charges from CAD18 - CAD20 something. Also, I got some valuable information from counter customer service Mr. Bruce for join membership charge only CAD29.- for two (2) years. It's a BIG SAVING.
I wolk from bus terminal, first stop to "Old Lady Quarter", there are so many small shores there, but this area was so quiet, maybe I went there too early, it was only around am10.40, and nobody get up so earlier in Saturday morning. I follow the street and went to "Art Gallery District", this area belongs to downtown Nanaimo and I found a very nice restaurant serve breakfast only CAD2.99 until am11.30 Hei, that means next time I could go to enjoy my breakfast there, it's a country restaurant and look nice. I wolk everywhere and try to buy Bus pass - Daypass (only CAD5.75 for unlimited whole day trip, one bus trip for CAD2.25, if you need more than 3 times, it's better to buy daypass). Finally I got it in the mall closed to Commercial Road. And from there, I started my nice walking along Waterfront sidewalk trip.
It's nice, sunny day and beautiful sea. I really enjoy it. But, if you want to complete the whole Waterfront sidewalk, I can tell it's a long walking if you want, but it's really nice walk.
